WHO WE ARE
We are a small family business. Janine and Krista are mother and daughter, the best of friends, and business partners.
Janine's Story:
In 2017, my husband and I saw an opportunity before us to live a better life. We could live almost anywhere in the country, thanks to technology and the ability to work remotely. After visiting and enjoying Skaneateles, New York as tourists for many years, we chose to make it our home. There’s something very special about this beautiful place. We now live differently: more intentionally, more naturally, more responsibly.
I'm a Registered Nurse by background and Vice President at a healthcare analytics company headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. Todd and I have adult children: Krista and her husband Michael, Adam and his wife Cassi, and Brock. At home with us are our two black Labrador retrievers, Bentley and Royce, and a beautiful grey kitty named Freyja. Our family home is a three-acre property with a Cape Cod-style house and red barn overlooking pristine Skaneateles Lake - that our kids named "The Homestead" when we moved here. The Savage Homestead allows us to share a bit of our lives and the spirit of the place we love with you.
Krista's Story:
I started making exclusively handmade holiday gifts for friends and family a few years ago. As the years have passed, my passion for handcrafting natural products has grown. I love hearing feedback about my items, and I feel good when someone loves and appreciates what I’ve made.
I’m an Admissions Coordinator in post-acute healthcare by day. My husband and I live at Newton Farms, an old farmhouse and wood-framed barn on seven acres of land in Alden, NY. My dream has always been to have a big enough “homestead” for all of my animals. Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to animals – whether it be dreaming of horses or taking in the strays from the neighborhood. Looking back on it, I think this inspired my love for nature and living in a more eco-friendly way. We have goats, chickens, and two beautiful rescue dogs, Tinkerbell and Hercules.

We partner with businesses who share our values to offer our products, and we provide an online shopping experience for access to all.
